John W. Eury

Mr. John William Eury, 64, of Brunswick, MD, died on Monday, February 14, 2011, at his home. He was the husband of Dorothy Claar-Eury, for 33 years. Born Oct 2, 1946, he was the son of the late William H Eury and Kathleen I. Eury Getz.

He was a 1964 graduate of Brunswick High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1964 to 1970. A Vietnam veteran, he was awarded the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign, National Defense and Good Conduct medals. His unit was also awarded the Presidential Unit Citation. He was a member of AARP; VFW Post 1936 of Hagerstown; Hagerstown F.O.E., and AMVETS Post 10. He was an active member of Faith Baptist Church of Knoxville, MD and served as an usher and on the building, and grounds committees. At the time of his death he was employed at Clark Welding of Frederick, MD.

Surviving besides his wife are daughters Amy Yingling and family of Hollidaysburg, PA, Vickie Grams and family of Burkittsville; sons Fred Cubberly and family of Dover, PA, Kenneth Cubberly and family, of Marlow, WV, Michael Cubberly and family of Battle Creek, MI, Johnny Belinda Hann and family of WV; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne and family of Hagerstown. A large extended family and dear friends at Faith Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine Eury-Parseley.

Friends will be received at Faith Baptist Church, 2212 Jefferson Pike, Knoxville, MD from 10am until noon on Friday, February 18, where funeral services will begin at noon, with Pastor Edward Jordan, officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Grace Reformed Church Cemetery, Knoxville. Bearers will be William Claar, Herman Claar, Aaron Tyeryar, Gary Balty, Jequan Jackson, and Denny Snyder. In lieu of flowers, a donation plate will be available at the church.
