Mrs. Shirley Lee Fish, 75, of Frederick, died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at her home. She was the devoted wife of 52 years to Isaac "Jack" Fish Jr. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Fout, in 1958. Born in Frederick on Nov. 7, 1934, she was the daughter of the late James and Evelyn (Strine) Keeney. She was the adoptive daughter of William and Pauline (Snookie) Kreh, and the granddaughter of the late Cora (Rice) Strine. Shirley was a member of Calvery United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with her family. She loved being around children; from those she babysat to her own children and grandchildren. She was an avid bingo player and loved to spend time at her river property in West Virginia. Mrs. Fish is survived by her children, Dan Fout and wife, Linda, of Burkittsville, Bob Fout and wife, Gay, of Frederick, Robin Birkmire of Frederick, Jackie Gabrielian and husband, Craig, of Sykesville, Terri Schmidt and husband, John, of Frederick, and Tammy DeGrange and husband, Chris, of Frederick. Also surviving are grandchildren, Eric Fout, Matthew Birkmire, Ryan Fish, Rachel Birkmire, Aaron Gabrielian, Jenna Gabrielian, Terra Schmidt, Nicholas Fout, Danielle DeGrange and Warren DeGrange; and great-grandchildren, Scarlett Birkmire and Michael Fish. Mrs. Fish also is survived by one brother, Robert Keeney and wife, Doris; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She also will be remembered by cousins, Audrey Demarrais and husband, Tim, and Joan Zahn and husband, Bill; special friends, Esther Carbaugh, June Easton, Alice Bonifant and Nancy Royal; and her caregiver, Jacque Myers. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 29, from the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Harry C. Cole of Calvary United Methodist Church. Interment for Mrs. Fish will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pall bearers. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Hope for Scarlett Fund, Woodsboro Bank, 6 W.
