David Carlson Gardiner

Mr. David Carlson Gardiner, 76, of Frederick, quietly departed this life on Monday, May 23, 2011 at home. Married for 54 years, he was the husband of Ruth Carolyn (King) Gardiner of Frederick. Born on May 28, 1934 in Frederick, David was the son of the late Carlson David Gardiner and Margaret Leather Plunkard Gardiner of Frederick.

David served in the Maryland National Guard after graduating High School. He also worked as an auto body painter for Burdette Brothers in Hyattstown for over 20 years and then worked for the Montgomery County Government as an auto body painter until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed camping, traveling, hunting, spending his free time tinkering with small projects in his building and gathering with family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Teresa Ann Gardiner of Foster City, CA; David Wayne Gardiner of Mercersburg, PA; Janet Sue Gardiner of Frederick, MD; Randy Lee Gardiner of Frederick, MD; and Judilyn Arnold and husband JR Arnold of Jefferson, MD; 12 grandchildren including David Christian and Damien Paul Reimer, both of Elk Grove, CA; Chasity Lynn Repass and husband Larry of Walkersville, MD and Brittany Noel Arnold of Jefferson, MD; two great grandchildren, Natalee Mae & Travis Austin Repass of Walkersville, MD. He is also survived by a sister Nancy Carole Daley and husband Gary of Thurmont, MD.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 & 7-9 PM on Wednesday, May 25 at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street in Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, May 26 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home, Pastor Paul Papp officiating.
