Stanley Vinton Gaver

Mr. Stanley Vinton Gaver, 82, of Frederick peacefully passed surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy. He was married to the late Betty Jean Clark Gaver, his loving wife of 32 years, who predeceased him on February 22, 1987.

Born May 5, 1928 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Pierce and Catherine Bond Gaver.

Mr. Gaver was a Independent Insurance Agent for 62 years beginning in Gaver & Son Insurance Agency with his father. He was a member of the Seneca Football team, Optimist Club, Frederick High School Class of 1946 reunion committee, Frederick Elks Club and the Catoctin Club.

As a young man, Mr. Gaver was active in Frederick High School athletics. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mr. Gaver loved researching the history of Middletown and Frederick, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a people person and loved talking to anyone. He greatly enjoyed lunch every Friday with his cousin, Austin, and his weekly visits from another cousin, Betty Lou. His greatest love of the past ten years was his schnauzer, Sadie.

He is survived by four children; Cheryl "Cheri" Poklemba and husband, Allen of Taylorsville; Kevin "Mic" Gaver and wife, Suzanne, of North Port, Fla.; Candy Hansberger of Frederick; and Pepper Delauter and husband, Dan, of Wolfsville; his grandchildren; Christopher Poklemba and wife, Jen; Alexa Hartner and husband, James; Brooke Poklemba; Jason Hansberger and wife, Julie; Justin Hansberger and fiance', Courtney Horseman; Tyler Hansberger and fiance' , Rachel Justus; and Seth, Clay and Collin Delauter.

In addition, he is survived by his step-grandchildren; Lummie Snead and Ashley Snead of Charlotte County, Fla; seven great-grandchildren; a special foreign exchange son and his family from Santiago, Chile, Rodolfo Veliz and his wife, Jackie, and their family, Sebastian, Cristobal, Claudia and Fernanda.

Mr. Gaver also is survived by his special cousins, Austin Gaver of Mt. Airy and Betty Lou Breeden of Gapland; and several nieces and nephews, including special niece and nephew, Liz Ann Gaver and Stan Gaver and family all of Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Pierce and Jack Gaver.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2011 at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26 at the First Baptist Church, 7040 Bowers Road, Frederick, MD 21702. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Larry L. Eubanks, Sr. and the Rev. Burnis D. Barrett.

Inurnment will follow in Christ Reformed Church Cemetery, Middletown.
