Brenda Davey Glennon, of Frederick, went home to Christ on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, with her family present at Frederick Memorial Hospital, following a short illness. Brenda was the daughter of Bertha M. Davey, who now lives in Frederick, and the late Warren Davey. Brenda is survived by her husband of 26 years, Thomas A. Glennon of Frederick. Brenda is also survived by their two children, Thomas W. Glennon of Rockville, and Catherine L. Glennon of Frederick. Other survivors include her brother, Martin and family of Moira, N.Y., and other relatives in New York. Born Brenda Ann Davey in Malone, N.Y., on Nov. 21, 1951, Brenda graduated from Bruston-Moria Central High School, Class of 1969, where she was the class valedictorian. Brenda subsequently graduated in 1973 from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., which she attended on a full academic scholarship. Following college, Brenda worked for one year with the U.S. Customs Service in Trout River, N.Y., and then for 11 years in Washington, where she worked administering federal retirement programs. In 1984, Brenda married Thomas A. Glennon and relocated to Frederick, which she loved. In Frederick, Brenda's activities included the family's standardbred racehorses, which the family raced until 1991. For the next two decades, Brenda enjoyed being the caregiver to the one retired race mare the family retained as a pet. Brenda was intensely devoted to her family and became a full-time homemaker in 1985 following the birth of their first child. In 1999, Brenda rejoined the work force and began working for United Health in Frederick. In 2006, Brenda again became a full-time homemaker because of family needs. Brenda regularly volunteered to participate in formal and undertook personal projects where every day she quietly worked to make the world a better place. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Parking is available on premises. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 17, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 116 E. Second St., Frederick. Parking will be available on East Second Street. Burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery will follow the service. Following Brenda's wishes, in lieu of flowers a contribution may be made to a favorite charity in Brenda's name
