Merlyn Decima Goodwin

Mrs. Merlyn Decima Goodwin, age 90, of 4538 Urbana Pike, Frederick, died on January 18, 2011 at 10:10 AM. She was the wife of Charles Peter Goodwin, whom she married in England in 1950, and who died on August 17, 1994 in Frederick. Born in India on January 5, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Kathleen Bennett.

During World War II she was a nurse and later in England and Ireland. After her marriage she became a homemaker. She enjoyed her family, craft making, and her gardens.

Mrs. Goodwin is survived by her two sons, Leonard Peter of Frederick and David Jim of Alberta, Canada; one daughter Anne Marie Goodwin, of Quebec, Canada; two sisters, Sheila of Ontario Canada, and Patricia of Australia.

There will be no visitation or viewing. A funeral mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Father McMahon at the St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 9201 Leesburg Pike, Vienna, VA 22183, at 10:00am, Tuesday, January 25, 2011. Interment will be following the mass in Resthaven Memorial Memorial Gardens, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Athanasius Catholic Church, PO Box 1627, Vienna, VA 212183, of which parish she was a member of many years.
