Atlee N. Gouker

Mr. Atlee Nelson Gouker, 100, of Frederick, died on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at his home. He was the husband of Diane Regula Gouker and the late Helen Linton Gouker. Born in Baltimore on November 14, 1910, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Laura Odie Hoover Gouker. Mr. Gouker was retired after 35 years as a lineman with the Potomac Edison Company. He was an active member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren, the Mens Bible Class and the Homebuilders Sunday School Class. He enjoyed woodworking, camping with his family and spending time with his many friends at Roy Rogers for coffee. Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Suzanne Lee and husband Mark, of FL, Jennifer Gouker Wagner and husband Shane, of Greenwood, Arkansas, and Karen Gouker Pastore, of Vancouver, Washington, and Christopher Gouker and wife Lisa, of Walkersville, one sister, Thelma Boward, of Hagerstown, three grandchildren, Laura Wagner, Samantha Wagner and Kyle Pastore, several nieces and nephews and also two special friends, Dave Bowman and Trenton Aleshire. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Leo Gouker, Merhle Gouker, Robert Gouker and Kermitt Gouker and a half sister, Regina Baer. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the church. The Rev. Dr. Paul Mundey and Rev. Sandi Evans Rogers, pastors of the church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Pallbearers will be, Chris Gouker, Jennifer Wagner, Karen Pastore, Harold Delauter, David Bowman and Phil Zimmerman. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave., Frederick, MD 21701.
