May Gerrich Hahn

Mrs. May Lucille Gerrich Hahn, 88, of Frederick, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles Michael Hahn, Sr, who died May 4, 2002. They were married April 26, 1942. Born October 30, 1922, in Frederick, she was a daughter of the late Howard Walter and Grace Hartsock Gerrich. Mrs. Hahn was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Friendly Circle Sunday School class. She was also a life member of the Junior Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, No 2, Frederick and and the FSK Post 11, American Legion auxiliary. She was also a member of the local and national AARP and enjoyed playing bingo at the Junior Fire Company; traveling on bus trips and watching TV game shows and doing crossword and puzzle books She also enjoyed her monthly lunches with her former office associates Sylvia Springer, Cindy Hart and Tom Nikirk. She was a 1939 graduate of Frederick High School, and worked in the Law Office of Charles Mathias, and for 5 years Elm Street School cafeteria. Prior to retirement, she worked as secretary to Ed Nikirk at the Law Offices of Nikirk & Nikirk, for over 20 years. She is survived by six children, C. Michael Hahn II and wife Jane, John A. Hahn and wife Peggy, and H. Richard Hahn, all of Frederick, Christina M. Bookey, Linda H. Sheridan and husband, Chip all of Frederick and Patti A. Fouche and husband Kevin, all of Brunswick;; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie May, of Keedysville; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Velma Graham and Theresa Fangmeyer. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Monday, April 25, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harry C. Cole, officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
