Regina Elizabeth Hargett

October 23, 1930 — March 29, 1910

Mrs. Regina Elizabeth Crouse Hargett, 79, of Mount Airy, died Monday, March 29, 2010, at Golden Living Center, Frederick. She was the wife of Charles E. "Bucky" Hargett Sr. They were married for 22 years. Born in Frederick on Oct. 23, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Irvin Franklin Hill Crouse and Elsie Elizabeth Painter Crouse. Mrs. Hargett was a graduate of Frederick High School, class of 1948, received her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in 1987 from Upper Iowa University and her master's in public policy in 1992 from the University of Maryland. In 1981, she graduated from Towson State College Realtors Institute. She had worked at Fort Detrick for 17 years and had received the Outstanding Paraprofessional Employee Award. She had also worked at the Office of Engineering of Prince George's County Department of Public Works and Transportation. She was very active as a real estate broker for 30 years. Mrs. Hargett was a member of several local, state and national Realtors associations. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Frederick and the Alumni Association of Upper Iowa University. At one time she was active with the Frederick County Mental Health Advisory Committee, the Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Frederick County and was past president and on the board of directors for the Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Maryland Inc. Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Cathy Sue Wetzel and Pamela G. Lesscallett, both of Frederick, and Rebecca Joyce Lee of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Lorraine Sheldon of Rochester, N.Y., and Vicki Ann Murphy of Myersville; and one brother, David L. Crouse of Myersville. She will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews, and her stepchildren and stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas K. Wetzel; a grandson, David Wayne Lee Jr.; one brother, Irvin F.H. Crouse Jr.; and one sister, Elsie Irveline Hargett. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 2, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Paul Stull will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
