William Joseph Herbig

Mr. William Joseph Herbig, 79, of Frederick, died on January 26 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of 55 years to Maddelena Herbig. Born on May 22, 1931, he was the son of the late William Amile Herbig and Henrietta Kline.

Mr. Herbig entered the Marine Corps in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1954. Upon his military separation, he attended Cooper Union University where he graduated and began working as an electrical engineer for RCA. He then attended Johns Hopkins University and received his masters degree and started a longtime career for IBM until his retirement in 1994. He and his wife enjoyed each others company as well as traveling together.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one brother, Raymond Herbig.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 30 from 3-5 PM at Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Road, Middletown, Maryland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Holy Family on Monday, January 31 at 11 AM, Monsignor Robert Jaskot officiating. Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum.
