Edna Catherine Hooper

Mrs. Edna Catherine Virginia Hooper, age 85, of Frederick passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Golden Living Center, Frederick. She was the wife the late E. Milo Hooper who passed away in 2001. Born on January 24, 1926 in Frederick she was the daughter of the late Edward L. and Edna Marie (Cook) Umberger.

Mrs. Hooper worked for many years on her family's farm growing up as well as with her husband for many years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and raised rabbits. She sold eggs to the community, worked on scrapbooks, attended yard sales and auctions and loved country music.

She is survived by her son Richard E. Hooper of Frederick and her siblings George Edward Umberger of Frederick, Margaret Allen and husband William of Jefferson, Ruth Adkins of Walkersville, and Helen Showe and husband Jim of Frederick. She is additionally survived by her brother and sister in-laws Anna Mae Carmack, Robert L. Hooper and wife Paulette, Paul Wachter and Phyllis Hooper and many nieces and nephews, and many great nieces & nephews. Mrs. Hooper is preceded in death by her brother and sister in-laws Guy Adkins, Kitty Umberger, Grayson Hooper and Erma Black, Howard and Yvonne Hooper, John Hooper, Robert and Betty Cramer, Mary Margaret Wachter, and Charles Carmack.

Friends may be received at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 from 7 to 9 PM and on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 from 10-11 AM when services will be held at 11 AM. The Rev. Robert Wills of the Mayberry Church of God will officiate. The interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. Contributions maybe made in Mrs. Hooper's name to Alzheimer's Association, 108 Byte Drive, Suite 103, Frederick, Maryland 21702, or to Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick, Maryland 21702-1799.
