Richard David Jenkins Sr.

Richard David Jenkins Sr., 87, of Adamstown, died Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary Rosalita Young Jenkins.

He was born on June 28, 1923 in Frederick. He was the son of the late Joseph and Lydia Pearl Jenkins.

Mr. Jenkins worked as a signal maintainer for the B.O. Railroad. He was a veteran of the US Army during World War II. He was a champion horsehoe pitcher and he was an avid bowler. Also, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda E. Stockman and husband James of Mt. Airy, son, Richard D. Jenkins Jr. of Adamstown, sister, Goldie Davis of Frederick, son-in-law, Ronald L. Adams, grandchildren, Thomas Stockman, Penni Bauerschmidt, Crystal Misner and Ashlea Adams, 4 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Joan Adams.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Marina Flores will officiate. Interment will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Jefferson.
