Agatha Margaret Hoke Jerome, age 96, died Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Jerome was born November 29, 1914 in Frederick and was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Ola Spurrier Hoke. She was married to the late Wayne Bernard Jerome of Hancock, Maryland.
Mrs. Jerome graduated from Frederick High School class of 1933 and attended Strayer Business College. She was employed by the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. She was very active in 4-H and was a member of the Maryland All Star Chapter and the Lodge of a Thousand. Mrs. Jerome was a food judge at 4-H Fairs and enjoyed needlepoint and bird watching.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dale LeRoy Jerome, and siblings L. Austin Hoke, Gladys H. Branson, Grace H. Roelke, Nora V. Hoke, Ruth H. Hussey and Harold L. Hoke. She is survived by a sister, Marvel H. Urban, a sister-in-law, Jean Hoke and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held in the Mausoleum Chapel at Mt. Olivet Cemetery on Tuesday, July 19th, 2011 at 10:30 am, to be followed by a procession to the gravesite. The Reverend Dr. Susan Halse of Middletown United Methodist Church will officiate.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Maryland Chapter of 4-H All Stars.
