Mr. Richard Whitter Keefer, 92, of Frederick, died on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at the Northampton Manor Health Care Center. He was the loving husband of 67 years to Helen Kuhn Keefer. Born in Frederick, on June 11, 1919, he was a son of the late Charles S. and Jessie Alice Whitter Keefer. Mr. Keefer was retired as an electrical engineer at Airpax. He and Charles Simpson were founding members of the Monocacy Pistol Club. Mr. Keefer was a life member of the NRA and a long time member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Surviving in addition to his wife is one son, Terry L. Keefer and wife Jennifer, of Frederick, and a niece, Susann Linton and husband Gary, of Frederick. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles M. "Pete" Keefer and a sister, Virginia K. Deveraux. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. W. Philip Fogarty, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to March of Dimes, 2700 S. Quincy Street, #220, Arlington, VA 22206.
