George Raymond Ketterman Jr.

Mr. George Raymond "Ray" Ketterman Jr., 62, of Myersville, died Friday, April 29, 2011. He was the husband of Katherine Marie Sharrer Ketterman.

He was born on July 25, 1948 in Frederick and he is the son of Mary Louise Groshon Ketterman and the late George Raymond Ketterman Sr. Ray was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters of America for 41 years and he was a foreman for The Washington Woodworking Co. L.L.C. for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion Francis Scott Key Post #11 and a veteran of the Vietnam War. In his spare time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by children, George R. Ketterman III and girlfriend Paula of Hagerstown, Mary Katherine Thompson and husband Bruce of Monrovia, and John Christopher Ketterman and wife Sandra of Falling Waters, WV, two sisters, Barbara Wilson and Shirley Wilson, seven grandchildren, Cody Rentzell, Haven Ketterman, Lillie Ketterman, Faith Ketterman, Morgan Ketterman, Paige Ketterman and Sadie Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Benjamin Ketterman.

The family will receive friends from 6pm-9pm on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am, on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Road, Middletown. Msgr. Robert Jaskot will officiate. Interment will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Hagerstown.
