Austin L. Keyser Obituary

Austin L. Keyser, 81, of Frederick died Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty I. Keyser.

Born on June 27, 1929, in Frederick, Maryland. He was the son of the late Lewis and Viola (Summers) Keyser.

He was the owner and operator of Keyser's Blacktopping and Concrete for 23 years. Also, he was an employee of Flower Fashions. Mr. Keyser was a loyal member of the Eagle's Club, Amvets, Redmen Club and Patriotic Club. He was an avid Redskins, Yankees and NASCAR fan. In his spare time, he loved to read history books, western stories and playing the lottery In his later years, he resided at his daughter's home where he enjoyed watching deer from the porch.

He is survived by his son, Larry A. Keyser and wife Linda of Frederick, daughter, Deborah A. Wages and husband George of Frederick, seven grandchildren, Christie Keyser-Rice, Larry L. Keyser, Jeffrey L. Wages, Tammie L. Shumaker, Erin I. Burall, Chad M. Wages and Wendy M. Short, ten great-Grandchildren, his dog Wally, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church St., Frederick. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 27, 2011 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Tim May will officiate. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

Serving as pallbearers will be Larry L. Keyser, Jeffrey L. Wages, Wayne Burall Jr., William Shumaker, Ryan Rice, and Michael Baker. Honorary pallbearers are Chad M. Wages and Justin C. Wages.
