Ann Cecilia King

Mrs. Ann Cecilia King "Skip" age 96, of Frederick, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Matthew King, who passed away on March 16, 1993. Born on January 27, 1915 in Libertytown, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Mary Blanche (Dorsey) Roberts.

As a young child, Mrs. King attended school at St. Peter's elementary in Libertytown. She is a longtime member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Frederick. She was a member of AARP and NARF. She would look forward to reading the Frederick News Post as much as she could. She loved traveling, both within the United States and abroad. She also loved hats and was rarely seen without one of her hats on. Most of all, she loved her family, and enjoyed going out to dinner with her family.

She will always be loved by her family, most notably Sandra Butler of Frederick, Bernard Hill & wife Marguerite of Frederick, Virginia Onley of Rockville, John Hill & wife Debra of Frederick, Rosmary Hill of Bowie, and Cassandra Dorsey of Frederick and many other devoted nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Gladys Hill, Alfred Roberts, John Chester Roberts, Bernard Roberts, Barbara A. Hill and Thomas Clifford Roberts, Sr. and a nephew Paul Hill and a niece Mary Frances Bowins. She will be fondly remembered by the Keller and Carty families.

Friends will be received on Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. 2nd St., Frederick on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 11 AM. Monsignor Richard Murphy will officiate. The interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. Contributions may be made in Mrs. King's name to St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 112 E. 2nd St., Frederick, MD 21701.
