Mrs. Rachel Mae King, 81, of Frederick, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 14, 2010. She was the wife of the late Ralph T. King. Born Aug. 19, 1928, in Harrisonburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late Lester and Della Morris Shifflett. Mrs. King was a devoted member of Maranatha Community Church of God, where she was very involved in church activities. She worked at the Eveready Company and Corning Ware. She also worked for the city police as a school crossing guard for Hillcrest Elementary School, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. Mrs. King loved attending yard sales, as well as having them. She is survived by three children, Leonard T. King and wife, Maryann, of Jefferson, Shirley A. Stull and husband, Larry, of Thurmont, and Ralph E. King of Frederick; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. King is also survived by two sisters, Susan Cherie, and husband, Al, of Annapolis; and Della Ziegler and husband, Frank, of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Vernon "Dick" Shifflett, Bernice Beasley and Mary Beasley. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 17, at Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, from Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Jerry A. Price will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. Serving as bearers will be grandsons, Robert Thomas King, James Thomas King, Robbie Thomas King, Timmy King and David Stull, and grandson-in-law, David Kaloe.
