Mr. Kenneth Eugene King, Sr., 80 of Frederick, died on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Blanche King. They were married for 45 years.
Born in Frederick, he was the son of the late Harry C., Sr., and Esther M. Stottlemeyer King. Mr. King retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1995. In earlier years, he worked part time as a postal carrier, prior to becoming a cashier. He worked from the Frederick Post Office.
Mr. King was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Woodsboro American Legion #282, Amvets Post #2 of Frederick, and the Frederick Moose Lodge #371. Also, he was a life member of the Korean War Veterans Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Kenneth E. King, Jr., and wife, Ellen of Haymarket, Va.; Cheryl A. King of Frederick; Dawnetta F. Monath and husband, Steve Bradford, of Frederick; Samuel A. King of Frederick; and Jill M. King of Frederick; six grandchildren; a brother, Earl M. King of Walkersville; and three nephews.
He was predeceased by three siblings, John B. King, Hilda M. Poole, and Harry C. King, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3 at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 4 from the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Deacon Dan Roff.
Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
