Carl M.. Koch, Sr.

Mr. Carl Mathias Koch, Sr., 88, of Frederick, died on Sunday, October 31, 2010, at the Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Walkersville. He was the husband of the late Marguerite Callaghan Koch. Born on October 31, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois, he was a son of the late Carl J. and Theresa Ungs Koch. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WW II. For many years he worked as a mechanical engineer. Mr. Koch was a member of the Jefferson Ruritan Club, Lions Club and Knights of Columbus. He attended St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and had a great love in woodworking and crafts. Surviving are his five children, Carl M. Koch, Jr., and wife Wanda, of Adamstown, Dennis M. Koch, of Lynchburg, VA, Kathleen M. Hayter and husband Norman, of Middletown, Diane P. Davis and husband Ed, of Eldersburg, and Nancy J. McDonald and husband Kim, of South Lyon, Michigan, one brother, Daniel Koch and wife Mary Jane, of Greenville, South Carolina, 12 grandchildren; Justin, Meagan, Laurie, Amy, Patricia, Jennifer, Matthew, Kelly, Jaclyn, Kristin, Tomas, and Daniel, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by his many wonderful friends and care givers at Country Meadows Assisted Living Community in Frederick. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at the Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2: 00 p.m., on Thursday, November 4, from Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 East Second Street, Frederick. Interment will be in the St. Johns Cemetery, Frederick.
