Yveena Fortune Koontz

Mrs. Yveena Fortune Koontz, 86, of Frederick, died Sunday, May 8, 2011. She was the wife of the late William Koontz.

She was born on August 22, 1924, in Romney, West Virginia and was the youngest of 11 children to the late John and Viola Pyles. Yveena enjoyed caring for others, cooking, gardening, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Terry Koontz and wife Dawn "Renee" of Thurmont and Wayne Koontz and wife Nancy of Laytonsville, grandchildren, Tyler Koontz, Travis Koontz, Patrick Koontz and Andrew Koontz, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3-5pm and 7-9 pm, on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be at 1pm, on Thursday, May 12, 2011, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Kenneth R. Dunnington will officiate. Interment will follow at Fairmont Cemetery, Libertytown.
