Mrs. Geraldine Estelle "Gerry" Geisbert Krantz. 76, of Frederick, died on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at her home in the presence of her beloved family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Frederick, on October 14, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Paul G., Sr., and Fern Roderick Geisbert. Gerry was the devoted wife of C. William "Bill" Krantz, for 54 years, and the mother of Mark W. Krantz and wife Robin, of Keymar and Sharon K. Krantz, of Ellicott City. Her grandchildren include; Jason Krantz and wife Teresa Brodsky, of Keymar, Derek W. Krantz and wife Teresa, of Hanover, PA, Brandon M. Krantz, of Timonium, and Matthew J. Krantz, of Frederick. Most dear to her heart were her four great grandchildren, Timothy Krantz, Eliah Krantz, Ryan Heiss and Scarlett Krantz.. Mrs. Krantz was the eldest of eight children. She is survived by three sisters, Shirley Enfield and husband Leon, of Jefferson, Sarah Black and husband Selby, of Union Bridge, and Dorothy Kelly and husband Rodney, of Araby, four brothers, Paul G. Geisbert, Jr., and wife Rosalie, of Middletown, Clifford Geisbert, Sr., and wife Carol, of Thurmont, Ronald Geisbert and wife Pamela, and Michael Geisbert and wife Tammy, all of Frederick. Gerry will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Krantz was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1951 and she attended University of Maryland for two years as a Home Economics major. Seamstress, homemaker and dairy farmer, were Mrs. Krantz' main occupations over the years. She had also worked at the Army Map Service in Bethesda and Fort Detrick, and was a substitute teacher for Frederick County Schools. Gerry was a dedicated member of the Centennial Memorial United Methodist Church, where she served as chairwomen of both the Finance Committee and Parish Relations Committee. She also held the position of secretary of the Board of Administration. She was a member of the United Methodist Women as well. Having lived on dairy farms her entire life, farm organizations were very important to her. She was a life long member of 4H and was pleased to have won a trip to Chicago to the 4H Club Congress in 1953, for her excellent cake demonstration. She continued to serve 4H as a judge at the Great Frederick Fair, until her illness. She also served twice on the Southern States Farm Home Advisory Committee, and was a life long member of the Farm Bureau. Gerry was past president of Gambrill Park Homemakers and member of the Frederick County Council of Homemakers, where she also enjoyed many activities. The family would like to express their sincere love and gratitude for the outpouring of love and care, Gerry and her family received during her lengthy illness, from both family and friends; and a special mention is to go to all those who blessed her daily with, prayers, calls and cards. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday, October 15, 2010, at the Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 16, 2010, from Centennial Memorial United Methodist Church, 8 West Second Street, Frederick. The Rev. Dr. George G. Earle, Jr., pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Pallbearers will be Jason E. Krantz, Derek W. Krantz, Brandon M. Krantz, Matthew J. Krantz, Paul G. Geisbert III, Wayne Geisbert, Jeff Geisbert and Ronald Jacobs. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to, Centennial Memorial United Methodist Church, 8 West Second Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
