Mr. John F. "Skip" Lawrence, II, 54, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at Kline Hospice House, Mount Airy. Skip was born Aug. 6, 1956, in Washington, DC, the son of John Francis Lawrence, of Rockville and the late Mary Margaret Hilleary Lawrence. He graduated high school and later attended Frederick Community College, where he took photography classes. In earlier years, he worked in automotive repair and for the past 18 years worked as a photographer with The Frederick News-Post. Skip loved the outdoors and was often found riding his motorcycle, or spending time in gun collecting and shooting. Besides his dad, he is survived by one sister, Anna Lawrence Kim, and her children, Maya, Dylan and Braden, all of Rockville. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jane Lawrence and Jeannie Obolensky. A celebration of Skip's life and his photography will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5 at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center, 40 S. Carroll St., Frederick. Interment will be private. Because of Skip's love for cats, memorial contributions may be made to the Frederick County Animal Welfare League Fund through the Community Foundation of Frederick County.
