Ellis Emmitte Main

Mr. Ellis Emmitte Main, 73, of Libertytown, died Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Sunrise Assisted Living. He was the former husband of Helen Raby.

He was born August 26, 1937, in Ijamsville, MD and was the son of the late Clyde David and Vergie Naomi (Runkles) Main Sr.

Mr. Main was a mechanic and sharpshooter in the US Army 558 Signal Corp. from 1959 to 1965. He was a maintenance worker for Frederick Memorial Hospital for many years. He was a member of the NRA and an avid hunter, duckpin bowler and fisherman. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his ex-wife, he is survived by his son, Dennis K. Main of Mt. Airy, daughter, Shelley L. Dahler and husband David of Harpers Ferry, WV, brothers, Clyde D. Main Jr., Robert L. Main and Sam L. Main, sister, Darlene Frye, grandchildren, Tyler Main, Trevor Main, Christian Dahler, Alyssa Dahler, Allyson Dahler and Autumn Dahler, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, 4821-A Green Valley Road, Monrovia. Rev. Charles G. Beekley will officiate. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
