Nelson Case Marsh

Mr. Nelson Case Marsh, 86, of Frederick, died on October 5, 2011 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Dorothy C. Marsh. Born in Waukegan, Illinois on November 16, 1924, he was the son of the late Everette Earl and Edna Case Marsh.

Nelson graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Social Sciences. Mr. Marsh worked as a Management Systems Director for Westinghouse Electric Corporation as well as the Management Systems Branch Chief for the Atomic Energy Commission. He ended his career as the Policy Analysis and Resource Management Branch Chief for the Department of Energy, Germantown, Maryland. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Frederick, and was active in the Gospel Choir. He volunteered his time at church and on mission trips both in the U.S. and abroad. In addition, Mr. Marsh was also a member of the Kiwanis club.

Mr. Marsh was admired by everyone for his kindness, guidance and encouragement. He made everyone feel that they were important no matter who they were. His home and heart were open to all who came through the door. He was a fixer, loved to work with his hands, but most importantly, he was a gentleman till the day he died. He will be sorely missed by his beloved wife and soulmate.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Marsh is survived by children Kay Patricia Marsh Smith and husband Rex of Denver, CO, Gary Nelson Marsh of Novato, CA, Rick Charles Jordan of Thurmont, Susan Carole Kelly of Frederick, Cynthia Carolyn Hanna and husband Michael of Saline, MI, Gery Craig Jordan of Frederick and Juliette Cathleen Marsh and (Dan) of Frederick. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Megan Green, Eric Green, Lon Gallagher and wife Linsey, Sean Gallagher and wife Dionne, Lisa Butler and husband Tony, Colter Jordan, Case Jordan, Sean Kelly, Ryan Kelly, Michael Hanna, Kaitlyn Hanna and Jessica Corun as well as 5 great-grandchildren: Estella, Brogan, Harper, Delany and Lyla Rose. Mr. Marsh is also remembered by his beloved in-laws, Ida Hupe of Florida, Bill and Barbara Hupe of Pittsburgh, Howard and Germaine Hupe of CA as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Donald Marsh and sister Dorothy Marsh.

The family will receive friends from 2-9 PM on Friday, October 7 at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 8 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 131 West Second Street, Frederick. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
