George Irving Masser

Mr. George Irving Masser, Sr., 77, of Smithsburg, died on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born on May 11, 1934 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Oscar V. and Beulah V. (Blank) Masser Martin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelba J. (Griffith) Masser.

Mr. Masser started A & M Auto Body with his cousin, John Adams, Jr. in the mid 1960's. In the late 1970's, he started George's Auto Body. He then began working in the Frederick County Public School System at Linganore High School until his retirement in the early 1990's. Mr. Masser was a sports lover, especially watching the Dallas Cowboys. He liked gospel music and enjoyed drinking coffee with friends at Carmac-Jay's and then at Masser's. For the last year of his life, he was well cared for by his daughter-in-law, Martha Masser.

Mr. Masser was survived by sons George I. Masser, Jr. and wife Alexa and Monte L. Masser and wife Martha; grandchildren Dawn Powell, Dwayne Masser, Brittany Powers, Whitney Kline and Allison Masser; great grandchildren Forrest Potter, Blake Asbury, Jaelyn Powell and Eryn Kline and brother Victor Masser.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 21 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 22 at 10 AM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Rocky Springs Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Edgewood Church of God, 8204 Edgewood Church Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
