Mary Evelyn Mathews

Mrs. Mary Evelyn Mathews, 94, of Frederick, went home to her heavenly father on September 1, 2011. She was the wife of the late Raymond O. Mathews, who died on May 8, 1982.

Born October 8, 1916 in Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Nellie (Ray) Kolb.

Mrs. Mathews and her husband were longtime dairy farmers in Frederick County before retiring in the late 1970s. In later years, she loved going on car rides and out to dinner. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Feagaville.

She is survived by her sisters, Carol Ramsburg of Brunswick and Eleanor Warner of Gaithersburg; a brother, Bernard "Boots" Kolb of Adamstown, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 5, 2011 at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Graveside services for Mrs. Mathews will begin at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at St. Luke's Cemetery, Feagaville. Officiating will be the Rev. Kenneth E. Gill, Jr.
