Ralph E. F. May

Mr. Ralph Edward Franklin May, 75, of Myersville, Maryland died on Monday, November 14, 2011 at his home. He was survived by his longtime friend and companion Harry Hobbs.

Born June 7, 1936 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Wilbur F. and Lulu G. (Bidle) May. He was a graduate of Frederick High School and Strayer College where he majored in Accounting. He worked as a CPA for Nelson R. Bohn in Frederick, and later retired from Taney Corporation where he worked as the Chief Financial Officer. He was member of the American Legion, the Benevolent Order of the Elks and a lifetime member of Evangelical Lutheran Church all in Frederick. In his free time Ralph undertook the restoration of Bidle Hill Farm in Myersville and enjoyed collecting antiques and gardening.

In addition to his companion and friend, Ralph is survived by one sister, Shirley May Hyssong and husband Jack of Murrells Inlet, SC, one niece, Karen Hyssong Carpenter and husband Chip of Frederick, three nephews, John R. Hyssong Jr. and wife Kitty of Middletown, David S. Hyssong and wife Cherie of Frederick, and Daryl Collins of Finksburg, great nieces Lindsey and Kelsey Carpenter, great nephews Taylor and Colin Hyssong, Aaron and Brandon Cannon and Ryan Collins, and a very special dog, Ninja.

In addition to his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by one sister Frederica Grace (May) Collins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Etchinson Memorial Chapel, 106 E. Church St, Frederick. The Rev. Phillip Fogarty will officiate. Interment will follow at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Middletown.
