Ronald &Quot;Ron&Quot; A. Mele

Mr. Ronald A. "Ron" Mele, age 45 of Mt. Airy, MD, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011. He was the loving husband for 19 years of K. Heidi (Elmore) Mele. Born on February 28, 1965 in Silver Spring, MD, he was the son of James and Carolyn Mele of Sarasota, FL.

Mr. Mele was a 1983 graduate of Northwood High School, Silver Spring. He attended Montgomery College and graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Applied Design. Ron was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. His first job was with Heldref Publication in Washington DC, followed by employment with Phillips Publishing in Potomac, MD. He continued his career by working at both Auras Design in Silver Spring and AARP in Washington DC. He most recently owned his own business named The Art Department of Frederick. During his career he won multiple awards for his publication designs.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Mele is survived by his two sons, Nathan and Jack Mele. He was the brother of Debra Butler and husband Bill, of Hagerstown and Jim Mele and wife Stacy of Kemptown.

Friends will be received on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 PM at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 11 AM at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 E. Church St., Frederick with the Rev. W. Phillip Fogarty officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. To support the family and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kathryn H. Mele, 13409 Bottom Rd, Mt. Airy MD 21771.
