Jean Grace Mieth

Jean Grace Mieth, 93, of Frederick, died Thursday, April 8, 2010. She was the wife of the late William F. Mieth Sr., who died Dec. 18, 1999. Born July 1, 1916, in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Louis Yorey and Catherine Lucci. Mrs. Mieth was the first of her immediate family born in the United States. Prior to moving to Maryland, Mrs. Mieth was a longtime resident of New Jersey and Florida. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Frederick. Earlier in her life, she was a member of Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach, N.J., and St. Theresa Catholic Church in Spring HIll, Fla. She enjoyed playing bingo with friends at Creekside at Tasker's Chance Apartments in Frederick. Mrs. Mieth also spent a good amount of time reading, dancing and crocheting. She especially enjoyed cooking Italian food for her family. Mrs. Mieth is survived by a son, William Mieth Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Fair Haven, N.J. and a daughter, Patricia Cool and husband, Cliff, of Frederick. She is also survived by grandchildren, James W. Mieth and wife, Patricia, Clifford F. and wife, Sarah, Laura J. Price and husband, Brandon, and Carole Ann Cool; as well as great-granddaughter, Carys Price. She was awaiting her first great-grandson, who is to be born April 17. Mrs. Mieth also leaves behind a sister, Antoinette Nuzzolo of Lodi, N.J. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carol Ann Mieth; and five siblings. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 116 E. Second St., Frederick. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Katharine Drexel Building Fund, 8428 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
