Carol Jeanne Miss

February 6, 1966 — February 24, 2011

Mrs. Carol Jeanne Miss, 45, of Frederick died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at her home after an extended illness. She was the wife of Kenneth Miss. They were married for 24 years.

Born February 6, 1966 in Charleston, S.C., she was the daughter of Patricia Martin Collins of Walkersville and the late William Joseph Collins, who died Dec. 21, 2003.

Carol was a teacher with Frederick County Head Start, a job she so dearly loved. Unfortunately, due to complications of her illness, she had to stop working in October of 2010. She was loved by all of her co-workers at Head Start.

A love for all animals, Carol had many pets throughout her life. Among those were dogs, cats, a squirrel and a pig. Carol had a great deal of love for everything.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by three daughters, Brittney, Kimberly, and Rachel Miss, all at home; five sisters, Helen Manbeck and husband, Jack, of Herndon, Va.; Janet Collins, Susan Collins, and Crystal Keckler and husband, Jason, all of Walkersville; and Angel Roberts and husband, Damion, of Chambersburg, Pa.

In addition, she leaves behind her father-in-law, Herbert Miss of Frederick, a sister-in-law, Kerry Brook and husband, Dan, of Dunlap, Tenn; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members. Carol will be remembered by many good friends, including Annie Bolyard.

In addition to her father, Carol was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Barbara A. Miss in 2003.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 28 from the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Deacon John L. Manley.
