Clodomira Munoz

Mrs. Clodomira Munoz, 94, of Frederick, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Rafael Mauras-Ricci, who died April 24, 1968.

Born July 17, 1916 in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Agustin Munoz Escalera and Maria Luisa Santiago.

Mrs. Munoz completed her nursing training on July 1, 1939 at Clinica "Diaz Garcia" now Pavia Hospital, San Juan, Puerto Rico. She spent over 25 years living in Frederick during the spring and summer months. She loved to read and travel, and eventually moved to the Frederick area in September, 2009 to reside with her daughter, Magaly and her family. She had many great, lifelong friends, some of whom she had known for over 70 years. She loved writing to her friends and often would write three to four letters daily.

She is survived by daughter Magaly Mauras Green and her husband, Kenneth, of Frederick; Agnes Mauras-Ricci of Puerto Rico; five grandchildren, Larissa and Raissa Calderon; James-Michael R. Green, and wife, Rebecca; Jon-Paul R. Green; and Kenneth Lloyd Green, III; and her siblings, Norma Dolores Munoz Alvarez, Dr. Agustin Munoz & wife Gladys, and Estrella Munoz (Riefkohl) and husband Victor. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Isabel Maria Munoz, Candido Munoz; Miguel Osvaldo Munoz, Jose Oriol Munoz, and Neftali Osvaldo Munoz.

A Memorial Mass will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 East Second Street, Frederick. Officiating will be Msgr. Richard J. Murphy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hood College Annual Fund, 401 Rosemont Avenue, Frederick, MD 21701.

Interment will be private and at a later date in Puerto Rico.
