Robert Lee Myers

Mr. Robert Lee Myers, 54, of Adamstown, MD, died on Monday, April 11th, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Doris Mae Baker Myers. Born January 8, 1957, in Frederick, MD, he was son of Georgia Potts Myers, of Brunswick and the late Lewis Calvin Myers.

Bob graduated from Frederick High School, and in earlier years worked at Eastalco Aluminum Company and later as a rigger at Naval Surface Weapons Center, Carderock. He later transitioned into a firefighting position with Caderock, before transfering to National Naval Medical Center Fire Department, Bethesda. He retired from Bethesda Naval Fire Department and for many years worked with Baker's Fire Protection & Safety Equipment, which he currently owns and serves as President. He was also an employee of Keeney and Basford P.A. Funeral Home and enjoyed working with families and the other funeral associates.

Robert was a life member of the Carroll Manor Fire Company, where he served as an officer, EMT and firefighter for many years. He was also a member of the Moose, Lodge 371; Eagles Aeire 1067; and the Glenn Eyler Post, Woodsboro American Legion.

Robert loved traveling, visiting new places and cruising to many different countries and ports of call. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and loved his Harley-Davidson, riding and attending Bike Weeks. Robert and Doris also raised and showed Portuguese water dogs for many years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving daughter, Amanda Mae Myers. He is also survived by siblings including John Myers, Hagerstown, Cynthia Hiltner, Adamstown, Barbara Ann May, Brunswick, Raymond Myers, Thurmont, Vickie Stone, Frederick and Debbie Reed, of Hagerstown. He will also be remembered by their dogs Joshua, Pearl, Faith, Megan, Star and Kermi. He was preceded in death by his devoted in-laws, Lester William and Pauline Frushour Baker.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm on Sunday, April 17 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, where funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, April 18. The Rev. Dr. James S. Flora, will officiate. Interment will be in the Grossnickle Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Myersville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Carroll Manor Volunteer Fire Company, 2795 Adams Street, Adamstown, MD 21710.
