Pauline Carbaugh Newcomer

Mrs. Pauline Carbaugh Nikirk Newcomer, 89, died on June 27, 2011 at St. Catherine's Nursing Center, Emmitsburg. Born on November 22, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Carbaugh and Emma Ebbert. She was the wife of the late Welty Nikirk.

Mrs. Newcomer was an administrative assistant with the Maryland State's Attorney's Office. She volunteered her time at Frederick Memorial Hospital and was a president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the AmVets. She especially enjoyed playing bingo and participated in bible studies.

She is survived by her son David Nikirk of Sarasota, FL; Grandchildren Mitch Nikirk and wife Karen and Kevin Nikirk as well as her Great-Grandchild Zoe Nikirk. Mrs. Nikirk also leaved behind a very close and loving friend, Kay Chaplin.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 29 from 7-9 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
