Mariana Louise Newton

Mrs. Mariana Louise Newton, 91, of Frederick, formerly of Falls Church, Va., died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Northampton Manor Health Care. She was the beloved wife of the late Cornelius Rector Newton Jr., who predeceased her in 1989. Born July 12, 1918, in Williamsport, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Mildred and Charles Fagan. Mrs. Newton was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a former member of the Acacia 51 Order of the Eastern Star in Falls Church. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Crotts of Laurel, Nancy Schmidt of Frederick and Penny Shaffer of Fredericksburg, Va.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Gloria McQuinn. Graveside services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 10, at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Va. Those wishing to attend should assemble by 11:15 a.m. at the main building of the cemetery. The Rev. Dr. James S. Flora will officiate.
