Dorothy Christin O'Brien

Mrs. Dorothy Christin O'Brien, 87, of Walkersville, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 20, 2010, in Walkersville. She was the wife of the late John "Pete" O'Brien. They were married in September 1948. Born in Walkersville on Aug. 1, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Winfield and Catherine Fogle. Mrs. O'Brien had worked as a seamstress for several years in Baltimore and Frederick. She was also a homemaker and had great love for her family. She was a member of the Jefferson United Church of Christ, Amvets Auxiliary Post 2 and the International Order of Redmen, The Degree of Pocahontas Council No. 38, Frederick. Surviving are her two children, Sharon Woerner of Thurmont and Eric "Rick" O'Brien and wife, Marie, of Walkersville; five grandchildren, W. Chance Woerner, Eric O'Brien Jr., Danielle O'Brien, Cody O'Brien and Corey O'Brien; one great-grandson, Isiah; and three stepgrandchildren, Jennifer Kennedy and Robert and Michael Hellenthal; and several nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by her friends at Victoria Park in Walkersville. She was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Tucker; and brothers, Edward, Charles, Paul and Harvey Fogle. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Keeney and Basford P.A. Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Tim May will officiate. Interment will be in the Clustered Spires Cemetery, Frederick. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Main, Andy Vanravensburg, Tommy Rhinehart, Dewey Foreman, Michael Clemens and Alan Keyser.
