Mr. DeWayne Walter Phillips, 52, of Frederick, died on Monday, August 30, 2010, at home. Born in Frederick on March 22, 1958, he was the son of Blanche Pearce Phillips, of Frederick and the late Silas Carroll "Si" Phillips, Sr., who died July 20, 2008. DeWayne was a graduate of Thomas Johnson High School Class of 1976 and a graduate of Frederick Community College with an AA Degree. He had been employed with Pepco in Dickerson and more recently as a math tutor for several years at FCC. He was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, and was involved with the Frederick County Disability Commission. At one time he was an avid hunter. Surviving in addition to his mother is one brother, Silas C. "Jake" Phillips, Jr., and his wife Jennifer, of Thurmont, three nephews, Silas Jaymes Phillips, Richard Andrew Phillips, and Edward Joel Phillips, one niece, Helen Olivia Phillips and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be deeply missed by his care givers, Delores Carroll, Jamara Jackson and Brenda Pearson, and his working dog, Andy. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday, September 3, 2010, at the Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Mass of Christian will celebrated at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 East Second Street, Frederick. The celebrant will be Msgr. Richard Murphy. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to, Fidos for Freedom. P. O.
