Naomi Maude Wachter Poole

Mrs. Naomi Maude Wachter Poole, 94, of Frederick, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was the wife of the late Charles William Poole, to whom she was married for 68 years. Born Dec. 15, 1915, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Leonard G. and Hattie Ray Wachter. Mrs. Poole was a graduate of Frederick High School, class of 1932. She was a member of Faith United Church of Christ and a former member of Christ's Reformed United Church of Christ, Hagerstown. Mrs. Poole was a member of the Potomac Edison Forerunners Club of Hagerstown and the Springhill Garden Club of Hagerstown. Surviving are two daughters, Janet Houck and husband, David, of Frederick, and Mary Alice Pruitt and husband, Robert, of Perry Hall; and one son, John T. "Ted" Poole and his wife, Patricia, of Frederick. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Joanne Baum and husband, Richard, Sharon Hannaby and husband, Philip, Steven Dorcus and wife, Marcie, Andrew Dorcus and wife, Janice, Alice Roberts and husband, Jim, Cindy Reedy and husband, Jeff, Pam Kirby and Dearest Chandler and husband, Stewart; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her two nephews, Eddie Ray Wachter of Florida and Reed Wachter of Frederick; and a dear cousin, Libby Riedel of California. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jenny Sweeney, and her brother, E. Ray Wachter. The family would like to thank the staff at Homewood at Crumland Farms for their excellent care, especially the Willows Unit. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 20, at Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 21, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Katherine L. Penick will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Poole's name to Faith United Church of Christ, 9333 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
