Barbara Titus Reidt

Mrs. Barbara Titus Reidt, 88, of Frederick, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Homewood at Crumland Farms Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Reidt, who died in 1999. Born Oct. 2, 1921, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Lee F. Titus and Mary (Stoneburner) Titus. Mrs. Reidt was a graduate of Brunswick High School, class of 1939, and a 1943 graduate of Towson State Teachers College. She taught in Frederick County schools for a number of years. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Frederick. Previously, she was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Walkersville, where she taught Sunday school and was a one-time superintendent. Mrs. Reidt is survived by two daughters, Robin R. Tayman, and husband, Dwight T. Tayman of Frederick, and Barbara R. Farra, and husband, Rick T. Farra of Winchester, Va.; and grandchildren, Michael D. Tayman and Matthew R. Tayman of Frederick; Laura F. Myers and husband, Eben Myers, and Bethany F. Holliday and husband, Joe Holliday. Mrs. Reidt is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Lucy Myers; and a great-grandson to be born in July. A number of nieces and nephews survive. Mrs. Reidt was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret T. Creager of Frederick and Ellener T. Norris of Libertytown. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April, 12, in Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Serving as pallbearers will be Dwight Tayman, Michael Tayman, Rick Farra, Eben Myers, Joe Holliday and Allan Creager. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Matthew Tayman. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
