Phyllis Pauline Rentzell

Mrs. Phyllis Pauline Rentzell, 58, of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 19, 2010, at her home. She was born Dec. 11, 1951, in Frederick, to the late Barbara Lee and Robert Lee Smith. Phyllis was the beloved wife of William Michael Rentzell, her husband of 39 years; sweet mother of William Edward (Chip) Rentzell and wife, Katharyn; and doting "Memaw" to grandsons, Cody, Garrett and Nathaniel. She leaves to cherish her memory siblings, Robert Smith, Wanda Scott, Randall Smith and wife, Susann, Brenda Jumper, Robert Hobbs and wife, Sue, Paul Hobbs and wife, Stacey, Betty Lorraine Cook and Donnie Smith; and brother-in-law, Carl Rentzell and wife, Susan. She will be greatly missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as special friends Juanita Stoutamyer and Jeanmarie Bartlett. Phyllis was happiest surrounded by her treasured family and friends. She traveled extensively and was seldom seen without a Coca-Cola in one hand and a camera in the other. She was an avid admirer of Elvis Presley and enjoyed attending country music concerts. Each year, she awaited The Great Frederick Fair and Frederick Keys season with great anticipation. Phyllis was the former director of the youth bowling league at Terrace Lanes, the Mid-Maryland Youth League and one of the current directors of the Frederick Women's Bowling Association. She was a member of the Middletown Lions Club and was a faithful contributor to many charities. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 22, followed by an 11 a.m. service at Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Pastor Larry Nelson will officiate. Interment will be in Clustered Spires Cemetery.
