Barbara Frances Rice

Mrs. Barbara Frances Rice, 70, of Ijamsville, passed away on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010. She was the wife of Mr. William F. Rice. Born Oct. 17, 1939, in Taylor, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Francis and Anna Szymanski.

Mrs. Rice retired from the Frederick County Public School system. She worked as an administrative assistant for South Frederick Elementary and New Market Elementary schools as well as for the Board of Education. She enjoyed music and playing and teaching the piano.

Mrs. Rice was the mother of Glenn W. Rice of Ijamsville and Michael W. Rice of Ames, Iowa. She was the sister of Michelle Dale and husband, Ken, of Vero Beach, Fla., and Geraldine Sigman and husband, Allen, of Castle Rock, Colo. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Walter H. Rice and his wife, Elaine, of Albuquerque, N.M., and several nieces and nephews.
