Alta Helen Ruth Sampsell

Mrs. Alta Helen Ruth Sampsell, 83, of Frederick, died on Friday, September 10, 2010, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Clarence P. Sampsell. Born in Hagerstown, on April 19, 1927, she was a daughter of the late John Clayton and Nora Hollyday Ruth. Mrs. Sampsell had worked for many years in the credit department of the Routzahns Department Stores. At one time she was active in the Shookstown 4-H and also the Frederick County 4-H Program. Surviving her are her two children, Douglas D. Sampsell and wife Tracie, of Frederick and Rebecca S. Wisner and husband Rickey, of Frederick, one grandson, Douglas D. "DJ" Sampsell, Jr., of Frederick, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, H. LeeRoy Ruth and Woodrow Ruth, four sisters, Zona Bingaman, Anita Beard, Madeline Stouffer and LaBelle Harbaugh. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., on Monday, September 13, 2010, at the Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Pastor Christopher Wiles, of Tri-State Fellowship Church, Hagerstown, will officiate. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
