Dorothy Secula

November 27, 1924 — June 5, 2011

On Sunday, June 5, 2011, Dorothy Secula of Frederick passed away. She was loved by many especially the staff at Tranquility of Fredericktowne where she lived from October of 2009 until her death.

Born November 27, 1924 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Gertrude Craven.

She graduated from high school and held many jobs including working as a telephone operator in Washington, D. C. where she met her husband of 39 years, John Secula. Together they enjoyed living in Kensington, MD and traveling.

When John died in 1987, she kept herself busy with activities with the American Legion #268, VFW #2562,and Leisure Clubs at St. Catherine Laboure and St. Jude's.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Monique Secula and her granddaughter, Corrina, all of Frederick. She is also survived by her brother, George Michael Cronin of Mooresville, NC.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. There will be no services and private burial will take place at a later date at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Frederick County Animal Control, 1832 Rosemont Ave., Frederick, MD 21702, where she enjoyed visiting the animals.
