C. Grant Shaw Obituary

C. Grant Shaw, 81, of Frederick, died Friday, February 18, 2011 at Kline Hospice House. He was the husband of Margaret Shaw for 61 years.

He was born on September 5, 1929 in Superior, Wisconsin. Mr. Shaw was the son of the late Clarence and Marian Grant Shaw.

He was a sergeant in the United States Army from 1948 to 1951. From 1951 to 1979, he worked for the United States Government. Mr. Shaw was the Regional Communications Officer and Office Director for the Office of Communications at the United States Department of State from 1962 to 1979. He was the founder and president of OCS from 1981 to 1987 and a communications consultant from 1987 to 2002. He was also the founder and Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 1323. He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Laytonsville, Maryland.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Cynthia White and husband Paul; Richard Shaw and wife Carol Shoemaker; David Shaw and wife Emily, and James Shaw. The grandchildren include Mark White, Mary Elizabeth Weaber and husband Jeremy, Erinn Shaw, Brett Shaw, Taylor Brown, Zach Brown, Tyler Shaw, Hayden Shaw, and great-granddaughter Sally Weaber.

The memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Keeney & Basford P.A. Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The Rev. Stephen White will officiate. Internment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Homewood at Crumland Farms, the Benevolent Fund, P.O. Box 250, Williamsport, MD, 21795-0250.
