E Kathleen Shook

Mrs. E. Kathleen Shook, 91, of Frederick, died on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of 38 years of Roscoe Howard Shook, who died on March 2, 1987. Born on October 19, 1919, at Point of Rocks, Mrs. Shook was a daughter of the late Clara Barrett Metzer, formerly of Brunswick and the late Charles W. Metzer. Mrs. Shook is the last of her immediate family. Mrs. Shook was raised in Point of Rocks by her grandparents, the late William H. and Catherine Oden Barrett. She attended the Point of Rocks Elementary School, later Elm Street and Thurmont High School. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Shook was employed at Elm Street School in the school cafeteria and also worked for the Peter Pan Restaurant, Urbana as a waitress. She was an active charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Lutheran Womens Group of the church; the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Citizens Nursing Home auxiliary.

Surviving are a son William B. Shook and special friend, Barbara Frushour of Boonsboro; one daughter, Kathy Firor and husband David of Thurmont; seven grandchildren, Lori Ann Shook, Amy Shook, Everest Shook, Richie Cooper Shook, Erin Sites and husband Donald, Emily Firor and Georgia Firor. Mrs. Shook was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Leon Metzer, who died on January 31, 1997. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, March 17 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, where funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, March 18. Her pastor, the Rev, Ronald Reaves, will officiate. Interment will be in Saint Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, Feagaville.
