Hobson Lewis Shry

Hobson L. Shry, 93, of Tuscarora, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011at North Hampton Manor in Frederick. Hobson was born in Lucketts, VA, on February 9, 1918, son of the late Charles Addison and Lillian Helen Shry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen H. Shry in December 2007.

Hobson moved to Frederick County in 1927 as a child and became a lifelong dairy farmer. Hobson was a member of the Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers for over 65 years, Frederick County Farm Bureau, and Forest Grove United Methodist Church. Hobson is survived by two sons, Hobson L. Shry and wife, Joan of Lisbon and Robert A. Shry and wife, Joyce of Tuscarora, a grandson, Jeremy A. Shry of Halethorpe, MD and several nieces and nephews.

He was the last of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by siblings Charles Willard, John Atlee, Carroll Lee and Harry Thornton Shry.

Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD where a service will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the Funeral home following the visitation at 11:00 a.m. The interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. The Rev. Allan Angleman will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Forest Grove United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 15, Tuscarora, MD 21790.
