Donna Jean Smith

Mrs. Donna Jean Smith, 63, of Frederick, died Sunday, August 28, 2011 at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late George "Dickie" Richard Smith for 42 years.

She was born on November 17, 1947, in Frederick, and she was the daughter of Jessie Louise (Smith) Morgan. Donna worked for BioWhittaker for over 25 years. She was a caring, compassionate and giving person that always put others before herself. In addition, she was strong willed and independent. She was an avid Redskin fan. She enjoyed yardsales, QVC and Home Interiors. Also, Donna loved the company of her Rotweiler "Rosie".

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her son, Richard Smith and fiance Sarah Willever, brothers, George Morgan and Brenda Ramsburg, Link Morgan and wife Susie and Joe Shields and wife Janet, sisters, Dawn Flook and husband Mark and Betty Jane Carroll and husband Dave, half-sister, Shelly Abrecht and husband Larry, granddaughters, Lindsay Hope Smith and Abigail Grace Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Annie Rebecca Smith and Joseph Albert Smith, special uncle, Harold "Uncle Buck" Smith and best friend, Kitty Umberger. She always cherished the times she spent with her grandparents and Uncle Buck.

Her son would like to express his gratitude and thanks for all those that supported his mother during her times of need.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9pm on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, September 2, 2011 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel. Rev. George E. Brown and Rev. J. Kenneth Stalls will officiate. The pallbearers will be George Morgan, Link Morgan, Thomas Crummitt Jr., Ronnie Smith, Keith Smith and Ricky Griffith. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 515 S. Market Street, Frederick.
