Mr. William Quintus Stahler, age 71, of Frederick, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Peg Engler Stahler. Born on September 8, 1939 in Allentown, PA he was the son of the late Wilbur Schuler and Margaret (Griffiths) Stahler.
Mr. Stahler retired from the federal government in October of 1997 after years of service as a Computer Specialist. He enjoyed traveling, going on an African Safari in 2009 and spending time in Egypt in 2010. After his retirement from the federal government, he worked as a Teacher's Assistant helping disabled children at Rock Creek School. He was known affectionately to his students as "Mr. Bill". Other hobbies included genealogy, his grandchildren and their sporting events, and making mosaic pictures out of ceramic tiles.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Stahler is survived by his four children, Timothy Mark Stahler of San Francisco, CA, Patricia Stahler Coffey and husband James Thomas, Jr. of Urbana, Deborah Stahler Gohegan and husband John Richard, III, of Frederick and Julianne Stahler Davis and husband Jason of North Carolina. He was the grandfather of eight, Will, Liz, Quinn, Paige, Erin, Colin, Tristan, and Logan. He is additionally survived by his sister, Carol Ann Nelson and her daughter Kathy both of Willow Grove, PA.
Friends will be received from 9:00 until a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ, 15 W. Church St., Frederick. Rev. Dr. Barbara Kershner Daniel will officiate. The interment will be private at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Children's National Medical Center, made payable to "Dr. Bear's Toy Closet," 111 Michigan Ave NW, Washington, DC 20010-2916.
