Mr. Ernest Oliver Stitely, 69, of Frederick, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He was the husband of Patricia D. (Boone) Stitely. Born Feb. 16, 1941, he was the son of the late Oscar Beatty Stitely and Pauline P. (Masser) Stitely. Mr. Stitely worked as a cameraman for The Frederick News-Post. A member of the U.S. Army, serving from 1961 to 1966, he continued to support the VFW since 1998. He was an avid model trains collector and enjoyed fishing and country music. Mr. Stitley looked forward to family gatherings and loved to spend time with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Bryan Stitely and his wife, Susie, and Dale Stitely and his wife, Lois; and daughter, Kimberly Baer and her husband, Benjamin, of Mercersburg, Pa. He is also survived by grandchildren, Katelyn Kristina Baer and Benjamin Austin Baer; as well as his great-granddaughter, Joslynn N. Adkins; and brother, William A. Stitely and his wife, Rosemary. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 6, at Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 7, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW, National Headquarters, 406 W. 34th St., Kansas City, MO 64111; or to the American Humane Society, 63 Inverness Drive East, Englewood, CO 80112.
