George Melvin Stream

Mr. George Melvin Stream, 77, formerly of Point of Rocks, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was the husband of Mary Beatrice McCutcheon Stream. They were married for 56 years. Born Aug. 17, 1932, in Dickerson, George was the son of the late Paul and Sarah Katherine Stream. George retired from Canam Steel in 2005 after 46 years of service. In addition to his wife Mary, George is survived by five daughters, Debra Newell and husband, David, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Sharon Longerbeam and husband, Robert, of Point of Rocks, Bonnie Marshall and husband, Steve, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Donna Whetzel and husband, Mike, of Knoxville, and Rita Hose and husband, Eugene, of Sharpsburg; and one son, Daren Stream and wife, Brenda, of Harpers Ferry. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Stream of Knoxville and Robert Stream of Thurmont; and two sisters, Evelyn Burton of Tennessee and Elizabeth Baugher of Walkersville. George also leaves behind a very close sister-in-law, Margie Stream of Frederick, who provided comfort to his family during his illness and final days. Also surviving are several special in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend, Gene Snowden of Frederick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Randy Stream, and one granddaughter, Jessica Newell. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 17, from the funeral home chapel. Rev. Dr. James S. Flora will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul's Episcopal Cemetery in Point of Rocks. Serving as bearers will be George's son and sons-in-law. Honorary bearers will be his grandsons and his close friend. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at KeeneyBasford.com
